"Feeding Time"

Babies are bottle fed for the first three weeks of life.

After the baby calves get bigger, we get to eat solid food. It looks like little pellets and is like cow "cereal", only it is not sugar coated! The Feeder, is the farm worker who orders all of the food and hay for the big cows, the heifers and the older calves. He makes sure we are eating the best food to keep us healthy. There is a special truck that has a giant mixer on the back end. It mixes together the right amounts of grains and then pours it into our feed buckets or troughs.

Just like you kids, all calves at every farm, in every county and every state have to have vaccinations. That helps keep us well just like your vaccinations do. The shots don’t hurt us too much, ‘cause we’re tough!

So remember when you eat your milk and cereal for breakfast or a snack, that you’re helping make your body grow taller and stronger. Just like me!
